A mixture of art and photo prints, original drawings, gocco prints and postcards. I'm still a student with zero income, so most of these were gifts, exchanges and some were purchases.

Top: Rob Ryan, Lisa Congdon and Laina/erosturannos
Middle: Gemma Correll and Sarah mcneil
Bottom: Amy Borrell and Jen Collins

Top to bottom: Sanja Pahoki, Sarah Mcneil and a portrait of when I was three, a present from my friend Caroline Banks!
Sometimes I wish I had nice light coloured wooden floorboards so I can take photos of things nicely. Unfortunately, I only have pink carpets. I also wish for a nice landlord who'll allow me to hammer nails and hang art around the house, and paint the kitchen a nice shade of green or maybe blue. I can't decide. Hmmm. Anyway, I finally got down to buying some frames yesterday night. As always, I find Ikea frames to be the most affordable and presentable. I like simple frames that allows one to look at the artwork without being distracted. Well, luck allowed me to find two nice frames at the discounted section! I think they were display frames but they look good anyway.
Now, do you have an art collection at home too? Or even a small artwork that you really really like! I would love to see what and whose work you collect/display in your beautiful home. And I'm sure a lot of readers would love to know too, so feel free to blog about it and leave the link to your post below! I think it's a great way to share not only your blog with others but also a bunch of undiscovered artists we should all know of!
ooooo Dawn! I wish I could do this! BUTTTTTTT It pains me on a daily basis that I am not allowed to pin into my Tokyo Wall! WHAT A NIGHTMARE! I would have to lay little frames along the floor somewhere :(

Ooh what a lovely post to pop up my in Google Reader! I particularly like the 'less talk more make' - I might make that my new mantra, haha. I feel your pain about wanting nice wooden floorboards, they'd be a nice background for photographing my ceramics. I've finally framed the 2 originals I bought from you, but my matting is quite shameful so I shan't show you yet...they make me smile when I'm making breakfast though :) Katy.
ReplyDeleteoh dear, I thought your walls were carpeted!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely little collection, and those frames are just perfect.
I like Gemma Correll and Sarah Mcneil illustrations.
ReplyDeleteFor me, I placed many pics of art and design on my big wooden clothes cupboard {look at here: http://beatrice-gazali.blogspot.com/2010/07/sunday-noon.html}.
It looks like a scrap cupboard :D
Other pics, i pinned them on flat styrofoam and hanged it on the room wall ^^
I like Gemma Correll 's illustration the most, but very nice collection here. Yes I wish my landlord allow me to do that as well lucky that i got a nice baby blue as wall on my living room as bedroom ^^ and they paint my bathroom in pink.
ReplyDeletei totally recommend a green wall, and i hope you find an accommodating and sympathetic landlord. your collection deserves a better backdrop than pink carpet! ;) love the sarah mcneil portrait *and* its frame.
ReplyDeleteI think I have the same carpet as you :0 These are so cute btw, I love the little drawings!
ReplyDeleteooh, so nice to be included in your little collection! :) it all looks quite lovely, i like the mixture of different styles.
ReplyDeleteall the pieces i have are on walls around my flat, with more propped up on my desk as i never have time to find frames & put them up!
Ohhh!
ReplyDeleteI wanna have this wall!
I have a lot of little art prints but not enough frames! I'm currently redecorating my room so hopefully they'll all be up soon.
ReplyDeleteDawn, you just made me spend way too much $$$ on Big Cartel & Etsy! I went into a print buying frenzy!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I have been meaning to take some pics of your prints that I have hanging in my house - I found perfect op-shop frames for all of them!
xxxx
love this. you've inspired me to start investing in some good art of my own.
ReplyDeletewow! i felt i shud start again what i left behind long time ago...
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love. Love art walls, love your choices and love the photo. I use those 3M strips for hanging my art wall (even though I own my apartment - it's just less effort than drilling lots of holes - I just counted one of my walls and there are over 50 frames hung on it of all different sizes) but they are pricey even if you go to Big W.
ReplyDeleteI really need to do an update art wall post on my blog (http://cerebralexcrement.blogspot.com/search/label/photowall) as I've been buying so many prints and originals (including yours - yay!) lately. The ones that are framed are lying on the floor and the others are taped onto the wall in their plastic packaging.
oh my i didn't even realise the background was carpet till near the end of your post! haha just stumbled upon your blog and it's so lovely and oozing with sweet, delicate pretty things! so nice to come across!
ReplyDeleteyour art collection is awesome, i particularly like the "LESS TALK MORE MAKE" print - that's what i need to do. check out my artworks here:
