Good Morning!

Good Morning!
Woke up bright and early today and treated myself to a warm cup of Japanese green tea and a slice of some tart pastry like-biscotti filled with raisins. There was a name for it but I forgot what it was called. It's yummy! And I love it. I got it from Browns Bakery at Albert Park on Saturday and it was so yummy, so I went back again yesterday to buy myself another slice.

This is me painting at Browns. I was with Lydia, who shot this photo, and Darren. We were waiting for the rain to stop, and for dinner time to arrive. What a nice way to spend a lazy, wet and cold Saturday.

Not sure if you were there. I was! On both days : ) I thought it was quite fun poking my head into all the little creative spaces. Some were filled with fairy lights and jazz. Some smelled sweet with the lingering incense in the air. Others smelled of metals and machinery, some paints, some of wine, crackers and cheese!

It was quite a nice experience. I saw this lovely lovely lovely thin silver ring. I wanted it so badly. But I had to psycho myself to leave the studio without buying it. I came home and tried looking for it online. But I forgot the Jeweller's name and even the address. So that's just too bad. Oh well, I'll be able to find nicer rings. The fact that I'm in one of the world's best craft/handmade state, I'm sure Ill find a nice thin silver ring sometime in the near future! : )

It's Saturday today and I think I'm just going to take it slow and just go out and do some grocery shopping and have late brunch with friends in North Melbourne. Maybe we'll bump into Chris ( like I did, twice the last time I was there ). We never know ;-)

I hope you all have something fun lined up this weekend!

Drawing with Sarah

I met up with the very talented Sarah Mcneil yesterday for tea and some drawing at Journal. It was super fun! And we did a little collaboration. Here it is! I love it so much, I came home and framed it up right away!
Forest Girl
I hope you like it! I also painted my cup of hot chocolate and sandwich. But I gave my sandwich painting to Sarah so she could add her own bits in it : ) She ended up painting this sweet girl who wore a dress inspired by the colours of the ham on my sandwich. I forgot to get a picture. Oops!

Hot chocolate
We didn't have much of a look around at the Nicholas Building open studios. Spent too much time drawing and chatting. Haha. But it's alright, I'll be heading over there tonight!

For now, it's time to get my bags packed and off to the post office to drop off some zines you guys have ordered, and then to my studio to paint, paint and paint!

See you super soon!

Southbank to Northcote Part 2

Can you see the city buildings in the picture above? Southbank's behind the city  so that gives you a gauge how far I walked. Haha. One day I'd like to try walking from Southbank to Camberwell.

But for today, I'll just be walking from Southbank to Fitzroy and back to the city. I'll be meeting Sarah Mcneil for tea and some drawing at this lovely cafe! And we'll head down to Nicholas Building's Open Studio Day! I can't wait! It's going to be so exciting looking at all the wonderful studios and works!

I'll be bringing my camera along and will try to take some photos!

It's my first time meeting Sarah. I am crossing my fingers and hoping I don't get too shy. I'm a fan of her works and mentioned her in my Design Files interview last week! You see, I'm really quite shy when it comes to meeting fellow bloggers. Hah. Oops!

Alright, I'm heading to school first before embarking on my walking trip again!
See you!

Opening Night was a blast!

As you can see from the pictures, many many came despite severe weather warnings. Melbourne's weather is just so silly! And even though I stepped onto a nail just before the opening, which really hurt my foot by the way, I was really glad and excited the whole show turned out just right. Yay!

PS: My foot's alright now. It bled a bit but it's alright : )

Tonight!
We're opening the little painting group show which I've curated. It was so much hard work but all worth it! Do come along if you can!

The other day, I walked from Southbank to Northcote

You see, I was feeling a little bored and wanted to not be in the studio painting. I wanted to explore and find new sources of inspiration. So I decided to challenge myself and make myself walk so super much, and document my challenge by taking photos of things that inspired me.

Yes, call me crazy, to have walked from Southbank to Northcote. Without taking any trams or buses. Just plain good old walking. But yes, I needed the walking. And so, I walked from Southbank, through to the city, up to Fitzroy, then to Collingwood, and slowly but surely, I finally reached Northcote! I was so so so tired by the end of it. I didn't want to walk any further. Haha. Silly me!

Along the way, I took many many photos. These are just some for today. I'll promise to post more in my next post!

Anyway, thank you so much for all the lovely messages you people have posted, with regards to my interview feature on The Design Files! You guys are so sweet! : ) Thank you!

PS: Sorry I've been away the whole weekend. I was busy working as a conference support staff ( If that's what you call it. Haha ) and earning some quick cash for my art supplies. You see, art supplies these days are not cheap. Boohoo! So anyway, apart from having to be on my feet all the time for 3/4 of the day, my job was pretty simple. Just making sure food's heated up, coffee's warm and yummy, and conference guests are all well taken care of, with lots of drinks and food to go around. Pretty simple, easy-peasy if you ask me. So now, after two days of sore achey feet, I've got a bit more cash for more art supplies. It's all worth it!
